parking tips

FOR 2024: Note that BART has scheduled track work and bus bridges for three central stations on Saturday & Sunday Sept 21 & 22, resulting in delays and possibly increased traffic on the bridge & freeways - plan for extra travel time when coming from San Francisco or Oakland.   See https://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2024/news20240502 for details.

For all locations:  DO NOT leave anything valuable in your car!!!

For downtown venues (Freight, Civic Center Park, Berkeley Public Library):  Metered street parking until 6pm (enforced right up to 6pm).

The Center Street garage (entrance on Addison Street) is the closest parking garage to the Freight, but other downtown garages may have cheaper rates. If you are attending a Sunday morning workshop, be aware that the Center Street Garage opens at 12pm on Sundays. Click HERE for a map of other downtown Berkeley parking lots. You can also find free on-street parking (2 hour limit Monday-Friday until 6pm) in residential areas below Martin Luther King and north of University.

Also note that current construction on Gilman Street may result in detours or freeway exit closures; you may be directed to use the University Ave or Albany exits.  Check the Caltrans website for construction alerts.
