[BOTMC_announcements] Volunteers Needed for 2006 Berkeley Old-Time Music Convention!

[Berkeley Old-Time Music Convention]

This year the Berkeley Old-Time Music Convention needs
more volunteers than ever before! Check out the
website, http://www.berkeleyoldtimemusic.org, for all the details
about the festival -- it's going to be a great year.
If you're interested in getting involved, read on...
all the volunteer jobs are listed at the end of this
email.

Here's how it works: To volunteer, please send an
email to Amy, at hoferamy at yahoo.com. It should
contain your name, email, phone number, first choice
of job, and any other jobs you'd be willing to do if
that one's taken.

If you volunteer for one of the paid events, that is
your comp. If you volunteer for a free event, we'll
comp you into either the concert at the Freight on
Thursday night, or the dance at Ashkenaz on Saturday
night. So please also include in your email which of
these you'd like to be on the guest list for.

Please help me spread the word that the festival is
accessible to all, regardless of funds, by forwarding
this email to others who might be interested in
volunteering.

2006 VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Publicity: we can still use folks to put up posters
and leave stacks of programs around the greater Bay
Area, and especially in San Francisco.

Freight & Salvage, Thursday night: We need one
hand-stamper at the door, two people to sell band
merchandise and collect email addresses for the BOTMC
mailing list, and one person to help our food
coordinator feed the band before the show.

Berkeley Rep, Friday night: We need two people to sell
band merchandise and collect email addresses for the
BOTMC mailing list, and a whole bunch of ushers.

String Band Contest, Saturday daytime: We need people
to help set up the event starting at 8:15 AM (!) and
people to help with teardown when it's all over (which
could be as late as 4 -- you'll have to be flexible).
You don't have to bring your own tools for this, but
it is physical work. We need someone with a pickup to
make a run with folding chairs down to the Ecology
Center after the event is over.

During the contest, we also need two band wranglers,
who preferrably know most musicians by sight but won't
be performing themselves. We need 3 helpers at the
instrument check. We need 2 people to take signups
for the Cabaret from 1-3. Finally, we need 2 more
general help-outers to buy the judges their lunch and
hand out pint glasses to participants and anything
else that comes up during the event.

Ashkenaz, Saturday night: We need two people to sell
band merchandise and collect email addresses for the
BOTMC mailing list, and one person to help our food
coordinator feed the band before the show.

Jazz School, Sunday daytime: We need one person to
help "man the desk" and make sure we keave the space
tidy after the workshops. This volunteer should be
taking one workshop (or none).

Jupiter, Sunday afternoon: We need two people to take
shifts watching the instrument case check.
