questions?

Tony Mates is the rare breed of West Coast dance callers that make the
figures easy and accessible to all, while throwing out some great moves. He
will surprise you with your own finesse!

Evie Ladin has picked up the torch of square dance calling, helping foster
the boogie-potential of the old-time dance scene in the Bay Area - thriving,
jumping and jiving.

Known for their raw, hard-driving old-time string band music, the Squirrelly
Stringband comes across as a backwoods punk band, circa 1900. Influenced by
the old music of East Tennessee, with a generous helping of Black string
band influence, they sound like they just stumbled down from the mountain in
search of another jug of shine. The Squirrelly Stringband?s first
performance was at the Berkeley Stringband Convention in 2003, winning first
place in the string band contest!

Raucous hillbilly chamber music by the Hot Club's country cousins! Thompson
String Ticklers is a new group that has come together to explore their
shared interest in the fast, wild ragtime and slinky, slippery blues of the
1920?s and 30?s, inspired by recordings from the East Texas Serenaders, the
Grinnell Giggers, Fiddlin' Doc Roberts and many more. Fiddle, cello,
banjo-uke, two guitars and mandolin combine to create an unusual
instrumental texture that evokes a long-gone era of bobbed hair,
moonshiners, and Model T Fords. Suzy Thompson's new CD, "No Mockingbird",
features many tunes of this ilk, and she delves even deeper into the same
territory with the String Ticklers.
